Jr Interior Designer Job Description

Position Overview:

Housewarming Home Staging & Design is seeking a detail-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team as a Junior Interior Designer. The Junior Designer will work directly with the Lead Designer to understand and draw design plans as per client goals, source products and materials and determine material costs. They will also be expected to understand and comply with the regulatory environment around inspections and building codes.

Housewarming is a boutique design firm with offices located in Georgetown. We work in and around the Greater Puget Sound area on primarily remodel and construction projects, from schematic layouts to full permitting, as well as furniture & décor design projects. Candidates for this position think creatively about the use of space, color and movement and will draw on other artistic mediums for creative inspiration. They will also be effective communicators with the ability to persuade and communicate a design idea. The ideal candidate for this position will be a designer with the desire to grow and move up within our organization. Our Lead Designers are excellent mentors and will assist you in achieving your goals as a designer.

Our firm presents a rather unique opportunity in that Junior Designers will be exposed to and involved with a multitude of design tools, skills, and client projects. The opportunity to move up quickly with us is great and we pride ourselves in investing in our team members.

 

Job Terms: 25-32 hours/week, hybrid situation with option to work from home when the project load is suitable.

Hourly Rate: Starting at $18/hour

 

Junior Interior Designer Responsibilities:

  • Outline client design objectives.
  • Conceptualize and sketch design plans.
  • Manage timelines for the completion of interior design projects.
  • Draft construction drawing sets.
  • Source materials and products included in plans.
  • Create loose design pallets to sample the design vision.
  • Utilize computer applications in the design process.
  • Inspect design after completion to determine whether client goals have been met.
  • Create and update marketing material for social platforms and website (including blog).
  • Meet with clients to review design/specifications etc.

Junior Interior Designer Requirements:

  • Completed interior design education course, may be in last term of course or equivalent job experience.
  • Experience in FFE selections.
  • Portfolio of design work.
  • Highly creative, imaginative, and artistic.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent space planning knowledge
  • Proficiency Adobe products and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Reliable Transportation (specifically for sourcing)
  • Proficiency in Chief Architect

Junior Interior Designer Preferred Background:

  • Proficiency in Chief Architect desired, but not required.
  • Interior Design Certification (may be in last term of course) or Associates Degree in Interior Design
